yaoi inspired musings

I know this page has been around for a bit, but it’s so great That Japanese BL Scene Page.
I was reading the author’s comments with delight last night and thinking about the story I’m currently working on. I wanted a story that would definitely fit in the “yaoi” category, mostly for kicks. I was busy watching Gravitation and Sukishio and whatever anime RD was feeding me at the time, and I got all resolute and said, my next story will have a real seme/uke relationship where the top stays on the damn top. Damn it. And same goes for the bottom.
Ok, so I was slightly obsessive about it.
I just liked it so much in other materials I wanted it for my own.
So, story mostly written. Has top that stays on top sexually and vice versa, but after reading this BL scene page and giggling knowingly at various points I realized I can probably never write a story that cut and dried. Like those harlequin’s where the girl says, “No! Stop! I don’t want it, I swear!” My characters always want it by the time they do it. And my bottoms are a lot more proactive.
Pivotal sex scene in the book actually has weaker seme due to lots of background angst. Not that he refuses to plow his little uke, mind you, he just doesn’t do it with the vigor and relish that you’d, er, expect. It’s quite nice actually…but is it yaoi? Yeah, no idea. Does it matter? Aw, probably not.
